Recently, journalist Megyn Kelly criticized Selena Gomez for posting a tearful video on Instagram concerning U.S. deportation policies. Kelly described Gomez’s emotional display as “manufactured” and “humiliating,” suggesting that such behavior is typical of actresses performing for the camera. She further commented that recording oneself while crying is not normal behavior and implied that Gomez’s actions were insincere.
Gomez’s now-deleted video expressed her distress over the deportation of illegal immigrants, particularly focusing on the impact on children. In the video, she apologized and expressed a desire to help, stating, “I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”
Following the video’s release, Gomez faced significant backlash, leading her to delete the post. Critics accused her of being out of touch and questioned her understanding of the complexities surrounding immigration policies.
